As others point out, the DISPLAY environment variable is your most likely
problem here. The other less likely prospect is some sort of incompatibility
of the binaries with your version of Linux; Linux kernels change often.
Some Icon programs might ask for a color or font that could cause a window
open to fail, but I doubt that's the case here.

Obviously this is my fault :-) but the program called patchstr should let
you relocate the iconx binary to anywhere you want. You have to run the
patchstr program on icont to tell icont where you're putting iconx.
Another option is to set your ICONX environment variable. Either way,
you should not need a "/home/jeffery" directory on your system... :-)
Recompiling the sources for yourself is good for the soul, though.
